A backhoe is the most versatile machine on a small crew, and the reason is simple: it digs at the back and loads at the front, and it drives itself between the two. On a repair dig you can open the trench, stack the spoil, do the work, backfill and clean up with one machine and one operator.
That flexibility is what makes it the standard machine for utility repair, service line work, small footings, backfill and general site duty. It is also mobile enough to move between work areas on a site without needing a trailer for every reposition.
The trade-off is that it does neither job as well as a dedicated machine. For deep or high-volume digging, an excavator will beat it. For continuous truck loading, a wheel loader will. When the job is a mix of both and neither is huge, the backhoe wins on total cost.

Bare rentals go by the day, the week or the month, priced for the length you actually need rather than pushed into a longer term. Delivery and pick-up are quoted from the yard as their own line, so you can see the haul separately from the machine.
Your certificate of insurance is verified before the machine is released, every time. We record a photo walk-around at drop and at pick-up so condition is documented on both ends and damage never turns into an argument at the end of the rental.
